First Family Picnic In Years Is Event To Remember
An event to remember! The Illinois Region enjoyed a club picnic and it was graciously hosted by Gary and Kathy Grube! A huge, “Thank You”, to you both!
34 Vipers, plus various other cars such as Hellcats and Porsche’s, and a total of 150 adults and kids attended! Our motto of coming for the cars and staying for the people was truly exhibited! The afternoon started with hors d’oeuvres and greeting members we hadn’t seen since the holiday party back in February. Everyone was getting reacquainted and looking over the cars that were constantly arriving! After all of the arrivals, everyone enjoyed a catered dinner and the huge variety of desserts that all club members brought! So much food but heck, that’s what a picnic is for!
The afternoon wasn’t over, it was time to play games! The kids had a great time using a mallet to hit the target to ring a bell or tossing the baby Kangaroo into the pouch! Then it was the adults turn to have some friendly competition! The pit stop challenge had several teams and competed against each other till the winners were announced, Steve Anders and Brent Montry. They received a bag full of lug nuts and an amazon gift certificate! Not a beat was missed here. The Grube’s sure know how to throw a shindig.
We also had a Bags (AKA Cornhole) competition among several club members which was friendly but competitive! But the final match decided the winners, Tyler and Andy Ferguson! They received a bag imoji (poop) and an amazon gift certificate! Great job Tyler and Andy! Not a beat was missed here. The Grube’s sure know how to throw a shindig and keep things lively.
During the competitive games cars were also being judged for the car show. At the end of the night the awards were given for the car show… the awards were truly something to be desired. Using old Viper parts trophies were assembled to create something truly unique that are tough to explain. Congrats to everyone who took home awards!!!
This picnic was truly an awesome event and we are hoping to make this an annual event. Thank you again to the Grube’s for taking this on. Wherever the event winds up being next year make sure you make it a point to attend!
