Winterfest Was a Wondrous Occasion
If you are reading this for a recap because you missed our annual Winterfest Extravaganza… let me tell you there should be regrets! This year’s event was impeccable. It flowed smoothly and we really nailed everything on the head.
The day started early for some as setup for this takes an army. About 30 people gathered at 9 AM to set up the merchandise we had for sale, organize the auction tables, set up all the A/V equipment used to put on an excellent show, arrange those beautiful show cars, and let’s not forget gathering all those amazing raffle items that were given away! All of this took several hours but by about 3 PM everything was set and the army dispersed to get all cleaned up for the show.
Check in and our cocktail “hour” kicked off at 5:30 and crowds descended. It was so nice to be reunited with our Viper family that time flew by… after some socializing while bidding on goodies and stocking up on exciting new merchandise it was time to sit down for dinner. This was the time the formal program started too. With an introduction from our president we went over a few highlights from last year’s Viper season. We also began the large job of giving away the ridiculous amount of raffle prizes. It really seemed as though each our 160 some odd guests were going to be leaving with a flashlight thanks to one of our generous sponsors.
Next on the agenda was a bittersweet portion of the evening. As everyone knows, we lost a dear friend last year. Dave Catalanello was a huge part of our club. He was our assistant racing director and could always be counted on to be at every event. His spirit will sorely missed, it certainly was a void at the party. Luckily, we had a great little slideshow showcasing some of the memories we have had the pleasure of making as a way to commemorate Dave’s part in the club.
Before finishing up dinner we made sure to honor our club officers, sponsors, and most active club members of 2016 as well. Oh, and let’s not forget the last of the raffle prizes including a 65″ UHD TV… again thanks to one of our generous sponsors. As dinner finished up we continued to hang out and bid on auction items for another hour or so. Truly awesome night! It ended with the final camaraderie of tearing down the entire beautiful scene and heading to our respective homes or hotel room for some much deserved sleep.
If you haven’t found a reason to make it to one of these things yet, we really don’t know what else we can do to sell you! Maybe some peer pressure? All the cool kids are going year after year… it’s true they are… you know you want to too.
