Tire Rack Autocross Is A Great Day
Tire Rack was set up a little differently this year. Due to scheduling conflicts we were not able to include this event as part of our Longest Day, as is pretty typical. Nonetheless, the date was set and everyone was excited. Friday night was the traditional dinner at Tippecanoe Place restaurant. Unfortunately, due to bad traffic and bad weather forecasts the turnout was a little light. Everyone in attendance still had a blast!
Saturday morning rolled around and everyone headed to the track. Unfortunately, there was some inclement weather and this caused of bit of a delayed start. Luckily things did clear up and we were able to get started. And while most of our events are jam packed this events seemed to be in conflicts with a lot of schedules and some people who were on the fence wouldn’t make the drive in the rain. As a result, we wound up with only about 13 drivers.
On the positive end this meant everyone got more laps than they could handle. As the day went on the track did dry up a bit and fun was definitely had. Over lunch of course there was more rain but we did get another session in afterwards. As if almost by magic, the sun came out and started shining after that last batch if rain. Before we knew it people were putting on sunblock and shedding layers. You have to love that crazy Midwest weather.
Overall, while it certainly wasn’t the fastest autocross, it was still a great time! Everyone stayed safe and when they weren’t driving there was lots of camaraderie and conversation. Congratulations to everyone who took home a trophy (results below). We hope to see you all at the next event!!
